Adopt a Miracle's Humanitarian Efforts

in Ukraine

      

       Most of the children living in Ukraine's orphanages experience conditions that create difficulties and hardships as they go about the daily business of living and learning.  The wonderful, caring people who work with the children in the orphanages do the best they can to create a warm and supportive environment.  But, the buildings are usually old and in desperate need of repair and renovation.  No one expects the luxury of a four-star hotel.  They simply ask for warmth, safety and a few small touches to make life in the orphanages a little more pleasant. 

      Adopt a Miracle works to provide such humanitarian support for several orphanages in Ukraine.  Our latest effort is the Classroom Blinds Project in the Zhitomer orphanage.

Classroom Blinds Project

      This project is providing the school children in the Zhitomer orphanage with blinds for the large glass windows in their classroom. We are seeking either a donation of the blinds or funds to be used for this project. The specifications of the blinds are below, however it would be much more efficient to raise the $600US to purchase the blinds in Ukraine

       The windows in this older building are very large, which is good for sunlight, but makes it very difficult to see the teacher and the board at the front of the class. Large glass windows also tend to make the room unbearably warm. Imagine the difficulty of learning in a school with limited resources to begin with… then consider the children's inability to see in class!

 

Now...

     

       It would seem that the orphanage could simply hang something to block the sun, however, they are also facing the strict requirements of the Ukrainian government which mandate only specific type of blinds be used.  

       The orphanage teachers and staff do their very best to create an environment which will provide basic education to the children, however unexpected difficulties seem to arise constantly. An ordinary item like blinds for the windows can change the future of a child's education immeasurably.

     From time to time, Adopt a Miracle takes on specific projects for the Zhitomer orphanage, and others, to help with the needs that are small, but important, and are sometimes overlooked. A modest donation from the kind supporters of these children can make all the difference in the world.
